  5. Raul,
Muti recorded this with the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra and Vienna Philharmonia Choir. The sound I hear from this recording is neither 4th class nor provincial. Certainly, Muti is the only known world class musician in it, but if he thought it was worth his time and effort to prepare all the troops (Orch, Soloists, stage and recording experts, it certainly is ought to be worth our time to hear him out. And what a beautiful presentation: fantastico. As for being 4th class Rossini, Mercadante was good, but to compare him with Rossini, or Bellini, or Donizett, et al., is absurd. This is a part of Opera in the midst of growing up.
But most of all this recording is very pleasurable and enjoyable.
THANKS TO RAUL FOR SHARING IT.
my name is not important; the recording is.
